United States: The L-1 Visa, Key to Expanding and Growing in the U.S. Market
The United States continues to send clear signals of support for foreign investment and the international expansion of businesses. In this context, the U.S. government has recently highlighted the role of the L-1 visa as a strategic pathway to facilitate talent mobility and the launch of business projects in the country.
This message was reinforced by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick during his remarks at the SelectUSA Investment Summit, the leading institutional forum for attracting foreign direct investment.
During his speech, Lutnick noted that the Department of Commerce itself will support international companies in the use of L-1 visas to transfer key employees to the United States in order to launch operations and strategic projects, while progressively training the local workforce.
“The Department of Commerce will have the ability to assist you in getting L-1 visas so that you can bring your employees in to launch the project. You’ll train American workers over time, but you can bring your people here from the start,” Lutnick stated before investors and international companies.

These statements reinforce the role of the L-1 visa as one of the main avenues through which international companies can drive new operations and strategic projects in the United States, enabling the deployment of leadership and specialized expertise during key phases of implementation and growth.
Institutional support for this type of business mobility also reflects the United States’ strategy to attract productive investment, specialized talent, and local job creation.
