Following the earthquake recorded on 10 August 2026, which was felt across different regions of Colombia, national and local authorities activated prevention and risk assessment protocols to ensure the safety of citizens and public employees.
As part of these measures, Migración Colombia has temporarily suspended in-person services at several of its Migration Services Facilitation Centres while the safety and operational conditions of the facilities are assessed.
In-person services suspended in seven cities
The temporary suspension affects Migration Services Facilitation Centres located in:
- Manizales
- Pereira
- Medellín
- Quibdó
- Cali
- Popayán
- Armenia
In these cities, visa registrations will be suspended for approximately 15 days. Migración Colombia has advised the public to monitor its official channels for any updates or additional measures that may be introduced.
Possible delays in Bogotá
In Bogotá, the review and processing of visa applications by Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs may experience some delays.
This is due to ongoing safety assessments at several older buildings in central Bogotá, which have led to remote working arrangements being implemented for some consular staff.
