Mexico: FEM Goes Digital – What You Need to Know Before Traveling Abroad
Are you planning to travel outside Mexico?
Starting November 26, 2025, the immigration procedure known as the Statistical Form for Mexicans (Formato Estadístico para Mexicanos – FEM) will become fully digital. However, during the transition period, both the paper and digital formats will remain in use.
The FEM is a mandatory document for Mexican citizens traveling abroad, allowing the National Institute of Migration (INM) to collect statistical information on individuals departing the country.
Why is the FEM being digitized?
The INM and the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency (ATDT) announced the digitalization of the FEM as part of the federal modernization strategy introduced by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
The new system aims to streamline procedures, reduce processing times, and simplify travel-related formalities, particularly at international airports.
How do you complete the digital FEM?
The form will be available through the INM’s official website:
It may also be accessed through QR codes available at international airports.
Once completed, the system generates a digital confirmation receipt that must be presented before boarding the flight.
Individuals with a Llave MX account will be able to log in and have their personal information pre-populated, helping to reduce completion times.

The digital form requests the same information as the paper version:
