Argentina is moving closer to implementing its Citizenship by Investment Program. Following the government’s announcement in early October, the program is expected to open for applications towards the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
The program offers two main investment options: a direct, non-refundable contribution of USD 350,000 to the National Treasury, or an investment of USD 800,000 through the purchase of government securities to be issued specifically for this program.
The main applicant’s spouse and children may also be included in the application, provided they can demonstrate their family relationship and make the required contributions for their respective categories. Spouses and unmarried children aged 18 to 25 who have no children of their own will be eligible to apply for citizenship through a contribution of USD 100,000 to the National Treasury. For children under 18, the required contribution will be USD 25,000.
All funds must be transferred through the formal financial system and comply with financial transparency and financial crime prevention requirements.
The Citizenship Programs Agency will review each application and submit its recommendation to the National Directorate of Migration, which will be responsible for approving or rejecting applications.
